The Piobaireachd Society recommends the following lists of tunes for competitions in 2018
A. SENIOR COMPETITION
  Mrs Smith’s Salute PS 9
  The Red Hand in the MacDonalds’ Arms PS 10
  Good Health to You Donald PS 13
  Sir James MacDonald of the Isles’ Salute PS 14
  The Menzies’ Salute PS 15, K
  Farewell to the Queen’s Ferry (*) PS 20th Century Ceol Mor
  Salute to James Campbell  (*) PS 20th Century Ceol Mor
  Salute to the MacCrimmon Cairn at Borreraig PS 20th Century Ceol Mor
     
(*) “Farewell to the Queen’s Ferry” was published first in the Piobaireachd Society’s Twentieth Century Collection and is also included in the Complete Compositions of Ceol Mor by Captain John A MacLellan MBE published in 2016 by Colin MacLellan.
     
(*) “Salute to James Campbell” was published first in the Piobaireachd Society’s Twentieth Century Collection and later in A G Kenneth’s own first Piobaireachd Book. As originally composed it contained a dithis variation but in the latter publication this was omitted, and can therefore be considered as optional.
Competitors will submit four of the above tunes, one of which they will be required to play.
B. GOLD MEDAL COMPETITION

  The Young Laird of Dungallon’s Salute PS 10
  MacKenzie of Gairloch’s Lament PS 10
  War or Peace (Gesto setting recommended) PS 10 (@)
  The MacLeans’ March (MacArthur-MacGregor setting recommended) PS 10 (@)
  The MacRaes’ March PS 10
  The Clan MacNab’s Salute PS 15, K
  The Brother’s Lament PS16
     
(@) The settings referred to here are from the 2016 revised edition of PS 10, in which the scores for these tunes from the original PS 10 have been replaced.

The score for “War or Peace” is derived from the Gesto Canntaireachd and that for “The MacLeans’ March” from the MacArthur-MacGregor manuscript.

Competitors will submit four of the above tunes, one of which they will be required to play.
C. SILVER MEDAL COMPETITION
  Glengarry’s March PS 2 , K
  Grain in Hides and Corn in Sacks (#) PS 5, K
  The King’s Taxes PS 5, K
  The Desperate Battle (#) PS 7 , K
  MacCrimmon’s Sweetheart PS 7, K
  Lament for the Little Supper PS 8, K
  The MacLeods’ Salute (#) PS 12, K
  Chisholm’s Salute PS 14, K
Competitors will submit two tunes from each group, one of which they will be required to play.

K = Kilberry Book of Ceol Mor

Competitors are not restricted to settings specified above. Those who wish to play alternative settings should submit legible scores, indicating the origins of the settings, to competition organisers along with their tune selections.

Altogether different tunes known by the same or similar names will not be accepted as alternatives.
