The Piobaireachd Society recommends the following lists of set tunes for competition in 2003.
A. SENIOR COMPETITION
1. Spaidearachd Bharrach Tune No 7 * See Note
2.  Abercairney's Salute Tune No 12 * See Note
3. Lady Margaret MacDonald's Salute Tune No 27 * See Note
4. Salute to MacDonald of Staffa Bk 13
5. Sir James MacDonald of the Isles' Salute Bk 14
6. Lament for Cluny Macpherson Bk 14
Competitors will submit Four tunes from the above list, one of which they will be required to play.

In interpreting tunes from the MacArthur MS publication performing text, competitors should have regard to the Preface to the Performing Text and should repeat the Urlar where indicated in the text.

B. GOLD MEDAL COMPETITION

3. Farewell to the Laird of Islay Bk 9
4. MacLeods' Salute, The Bk 12& K Including Taor. a mach & Crunluath a mach var.

6. Ronald MacDonald of Morar's Lament Bk 8& K
7 Battle of the Pass of Crieff, The Bk 1& K
8 Lament for Colin Roy Mackenzie Bk 3& K
9 Blue Ribbon, The Bk 5& K
10 Mackenzie of Applecross' Salute Bk 10
Competitors will require to submit six tunes from the above list, one of which they will be required to play.
For the Piobaireachd Society's Gold Medal Competition (Canada) B above applies and for the Gold Medallist (former winners) in Canada, conditions are as in A above.
C. SILVER MEDAL COMPETITION
1. A Flame of Wrath for Patrick Caogach Bk 5& K
2. Lament for Mary MacLeod, The Bk 5& K
3. Sir Ewan Cameron of Lochiel's Salute Bk 10
4. You're Welcome, Ewen Lochiel Bk 2& K
5. MacLeod's Controversy Bk 10
6. MacDonalds Are Simple, The Bk 9
7 Lady Anapool's Lament Bk 9
8 MacFarlanes' Gathering, The Bk 7& K
     
Competitors will require to submit Four tunes from the above list, one of which they will be required to play.
With the exception of Tunes 1, 2 and 3 from the list above competitors are not restricted to these settings and any other setting may be played. The Judges, however, may take into consideration the merits of such settings, their authenticity and authority for such settings. Competitors are advised to give advance notice should they intend to include any settings NOT contained in either Staff or Editorial notes in the Society's Collections.

Altogether different tunes known by the same or similar names will not be accepted as alternative settings.

This announcement is made by the Piobaireachd Society to ensure earliest publication. It is without prejudice to any arrangements made by either the Argyllshire Gathering or the Northern Meeting.
