Composer's Corner I Chris Eyre
???For several years I was taught by Sandy Mitchell in Peebles. Later I attended a series of Summer Schools at Stirling University where I studied under several excellent players, i.e. Hugh MacCallum, Iain and Duncan MacFadyen, Capt. John MacLellan, Andrew Wright, Donald Morrison and Ronald MacShannon. During this time I gained the Institute of Piping’s Senior Certificate. For a number of years I also attended Duncan Johnstone’s School of Piping in Glasgow.

Piobaireachd has always been for me an abiding passion. In my earlier days I spent many years travelling all over the west coast of Scotland during the summer months just to hear it and learn about it. I learned quite a number of tunes during my time at the Stirling Summer Schools, I also had tuition in several more tunes from P/M Donald MacLeod and also from P/M Evan MacRae, who I knew for a few years after his return to Fort William and just prior to his winning the Gold Medal at Oban.

I have also played in various pipe bands over the last thirty years or so, competing in Grades 4, 3 and 2. I am currently President of the North West of England Branch of the RSPBA.

The following tunes are compostions by Chris Eyre and are from a book entitled "Airs & Graces" which he co-produced with Joe Massey with about 100 of their tunes in. There is also a double CD which plays the entire book in sets and medleys.
