Bio: Brian started learning the pipes when he was 8 years old. His talent was quickly recognised by many people and by the time he was 12, he was being taught by the late Capt. John MacLellan. It was about that time he was invited to do his first radio broadcast for the BBC. Brian was also winning most of the junior piping contests that he entered.

The first pipe band he joined was Inverkeithing and from there he moved on to Polkemmet Pipe Band which was under the leadership of Robert Mathieson. During his membership of Polkemmet, the band recorded the ground breaking LP "From Celtic Roots".

Brian's next move was to the Vale of Atholl Pipe Band, led by Pipe Major Ian Duncan. Brian then spent some time in Australia where he played with the Victoria Police. The band were in very high demand, playing concerts in the USA, Scotland and Australia, and was called upon to play many of the solo segments. Brian played on the recordings "Live in the Rockies" and "Master Blaster" during his time with the Vic Police.

It was about this time that Brian started composing his own tunes and songs. Brian reckons the highlight of his trip was winning the World Pipe Band Championship in 1998.

His trip home was via Ontario, Canada, where for a short time he played with Peel Regional Police, lead by PM Michael Grey.

In late November 1999 Brian became PM of Dysart & Dundonald Pipe Band. The first full season under Brian's leadership saw the band qualifying for the Grade One World Championship finals and finishing the season a creditable 6th overall at the Scottish Championships in Arbroath.

As well as being an accomplished piper Brian also plays the guitar and sings. His first solo CD "Another Day at the Office" was released in 1996, it sold over 2000 copies and is due for re-release later in 2001. Together with his latest CD, entitled "Out to Play", Brian's compositions reflect his character and the journey he has endured to arrive where he is today.
