Donald MacLeod's Collection of
Piobaireachd
Book 1
Donald MacLeod is
justly renowned as a composer of light music. Less well known is his
talent for piobaireachd composition. His six volumes of ceol beag are
sprinkled with a smattering of his piobaireachd. Here, in what was
intended to be the first of a series never completed, are twenty more
pieces. The Donald MacLeod Competition, held annually in Stornoway, has
shined a deserved light on these tunes in recent years. You'll find them
worthy of your attention as well.
